Bismarck Public School District

Parent Involvement

Indicator 8. Parent Involvement: Percent of parents with a child receiving special education services who report that schools facilitated parent involvement as a means of improving services and results for children with disabilities. Each year, NDDPI sends out a 10-item survey to a representative sample of PK-12 Children and youth chosen from each special education unit in the state. Results are weighted according to population size of the special education units so that the overall state parent involvement percentage is an accurate reflection of the experiences of parents of Children and youth with disabilities ages 3 to 21. Parents of Children and youth at all grade levels respond to the survey. The scores are based on a "percent of max" score which is the percentage of points the parent “awarded” to the program on certain items. To determine a district's Overall Parental Involvement Percentage, the percentage of parents who had a percent of max score of 75% or above based on all 10 items is calculated.
