COVID-19 Notice:

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, state assessments were not administered and therefore data for student achievement and student growth are not available for the 2019-2020 school year.

Based upon North Dakota''s waiver approved by U.S. Department of Education, North Dakota''s Department of Public Instruction did not calculate the Accountability Index for schools for the 2019-2020 report cards. Furthermore, Choice Ready data was not collected for the 2019-2020 school year. The School Support Status is based upon school performance results for the 2018-2019 school year.

Performance Comparison

This dashboard allows users to select and analyze two different performance measures at a time for comparison of public schools in North Dakota.  Users can explore the relationship between selected performance indicators. Currently, these measures include the following performance indicators for the most recent past academic year:

For Elementary and Middle Schools: Student Achievement by subject area, Two-Year Student growth by subject area, Student Engagement, and District Per-Pupil Funding.

For High Schools: Student Achievement by subject area, ACT results from the 11th grade mandatory test, Student Engagement, and District Per-Pupil Funding.

Definitions for available performance indicators are as follows:

Student Achievement for Elementary and Middle Schools: North Dakota’s State Assessment (NDSA or NDAA) results for Student Achievement for students attending public schools in the 3rd grade through the 8th grade by subject for English Language Arts (ELA) and Math.

Two Year Student Growth for Elementary and Middle Schools: North Dakota’s student assessment growth rate shows how the students progressed in their year-to-year NDSA achievement by subject area for English Language Arts (ELA) and Math across the most recent two previous academic years.

Committed Student Engagement for all School Levels: (Authentic Engagement) – The student volunteers resources under his/her control (time, effort and attention.) The student is attentive to the task because he/she finds personal meaning and value in the task. The student persists with the task even when he/she experiences difficulty and does not compromise personal standards for the completion of the task. (Schlechty Center for Leadership in School Reform)

District Per-Pupil Funding: These are the reported costs for instruction, administration, operation, and maintenance of plant by the total average daily membership for the school districts.

ACT Results (11th Grade): Results for the 11th Grade ACT test.

To protect student privacy, data for schools who have less than 10 students will not be displayed.

In some cases, when appropriate for the purpose of transparency, information involving 10 or more students may be displayed in ranges to avoid potential identification of students in small demographic populations. When utilized, ranges may be represented visually with diagonal lines or open circles in lightly shaded colors.
