Campus Life

Students have the opportunity to be involved in Student Senate, PhiTheta Kappa (honor society), Leaderjacks (leadership development), drama,intramural sports and varsity athletics. Living in the residence halls offers convenient access to campus activities and events, classrooms, computer labs, fitness rooms and the library.

Location & Area

Dakota College at Bottineau is located in north central North Dakota. Bottineau is a friendly community of about 3,000 residents and offers plenty of opportunities for hikers, hunters, skiers and snowmobilers. The Turtle Mountain State Forest, Lake Metigoshe, Bottineau Winter Park, J. Clark Salyer National Wildlife Refuge and the International Peace Gardens are all short drives from the campus. Surrounding lakes, forests and game refuges provide ideal hands-on laboratory experiences.

Admission Requirements

Dakota College has an open admissions policy. A student who has earned a high school diploma or successfully completed the GED exam may enroll at Dakota College. Dual Credit and Leading to Education and Advanced Preparation (LEAP) programs are offered to high school students to earn a Certificate of College Studies alongside their high school diploma.

Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded to freshman and sophomore DCB students by area of study, alumni relationships, financial need, residency and academic ability. One generic application qualifies students for consideration in all academic scholarship areas.

Students can find whatever they’re looking for at Dakota College where a wide variety of programs and options will suit almost anyone. From environmental programs, such as agriculture, wildlife and environmental technology, to cuttingedge programs in photography, health professions and business – DCB has it all.

For students who are interested in careers and technical degrees that will get them into the workplace two years or less, Dakota College’s hands-on programs are a great fit. With over 30 programs, almost any student will find the right career path.

Interested in a four-year degree? Students can attend Dakota College for the first two years, complete the general education requirements and earn associate degrees. Then they can transfer to four-year colleges or universities to earn bachelors’ degrees.

Athletics

Dakota College has exceptional athletic teams in ice hockey, basketball and baseball and women’s softball, basketball and volleyball. The ice hockey team won the 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010, 2016, 2017 NJCAA National Championship, the women’s basketball team won the 2007,2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2017 NJCAA Region 13 Championships and participated in the NJCAA 2014 and 2017 national tournament while the men’s basketball team won the 2014 and 2015 NJCAA region 13 Championships.
