English Learner Language Growth Proficiency is a chart that shows the percentage of students that are learning the English language and have met the expectations for reading, writing, and speaking English. North Dakota’s Department of Public Instruction has established guidelines to help districts and schools improve educational outcomes for English Learners, immigrant children, and youth by promoting effective, research-based, educational language instruction programs. Additionally, recognizing the diversity of the English Learner population in North Dakota, the guidance touches upon distinct populations of English Learners (e.g., English Learner students with disabilities and long-term English Learners) as well as supports English Learners in early learning programs.
The student results are based upon how well English Learners progressed on North Dakota’s state assessment for English Learners (currently WIDA-ACCESS 2.0) over two years, in this case in tests that were taken in 2016 and 2017. To protect student privacy, data for schools who have less than 10 students will not be displayed.
